A Ring, A Beginning

Choosing a ring isn't just about diamonds or gold.

It's about a moment - one that marks the beginning of something lasting.

At Solania, we understand that every story is different. Some are quiet and certain, others are still unfolding - but all of them deserve to be held with care.

This guide was created to help you choose with confidence, intention, and meaning - whether you're planning a proposal, choosing together, or simply exploring with feels right.

Because beyond the ring itself, what matters most is what it represents.

How do I choose the right ring?

There is no single "perfect" ring - only the one that feels right.

Start with how it will be worn. Engagement rings are often more expressive, while wedding rings are designed for everyday comfort and longevity.

Think about personal style, daily routine, and what feels natural to wear long-term.

The best choice is always the one that feels like an extension of the person wearing it.

What Diamond Shape Should I choose for the Engagement Ring?

Choosing a diamond shape is one of the most defining parts of the ring - it sets the overall look, feel, and presence of the piece.

Each shape carries its own character. Some are timeless and classic, others feel more modern, soft, or distinctive. The right choice often comes down to her personal style - the jewelry she wears daily, the silhouettes she gravitates toward, and what feels natural on her hand.

Different cuts create different expressions. Among the most sought-after diamond cuts today are:

  • Round Brilliant - the most classic and timeless; known for maximum sparkle
  • Oval - soft, elongated and flattering on the hand; a modern favorite
  • Emerald - sleek, clean lines with a more understated, elegant look
  • Pear - a mix of round and marquise; feminine and slightly distinctive
  • Princess - square-shaped with sharp brilliance; modern and structured
  • Cushion - soft, rounded edges with a romantic, vintage feel
  • Radiant - combines the shape of emerald with the sparkle of round
  • Marquise - elongated with pointed ends; creates the illusion of longer fingers
  • Heart - symbolic and expressive; chosen for its meaning as much as its look

Many also take inspiration from rings they've seen and loved - including designs worn by celebrities or personal references they've saved over time.

If you're unsure which direction to take, we're here to guide you. We can help you narrow down the options based on your preferences and recommend what would suit best - not just on paper, but in real life.

Should I choose a natural or lab-grown diamond?

Both natural and lab-grown diamonds are diamonds - identical in composition and appearance, and only distinguishable through specialized equipment.

The difference lies in their origins and what they represent.

Natural diamonds are formed over billions of years beneath the earth. They are rare, enduring, and often chosen for their sense of tradition and long-term value.

Lab-grown diamonds are created in controlled environments. They offer the same brilliance and look, while allowing for greater flexibility in size and budget - making them a more modern and practical option.

There is no right or wrong choice - only what aligns with your priorities.

Some choose natural for its story and rarity. Others choose lab-grown for its value and accessibility.

If you're deciding between the two, we're here to walk you through both options - so you can choose with clarity and confidence.

Engagement & Wedding Rings

What is the difference between an engagement ring and a wedding ring?

An engagement ring marks the promise.

A wedding ring marks the commitment.

They are often worn together - one representing the beginning, and the other, the life that follows.

How do I choose between different ring styles?

Engagement rings are typically centered around a diamond and designed to stand out.

Wedding rings, on the other hand, are more understated - designed for everyday wear and often chosen to complement the engagement ring.

Some prefer a clean band, while others add diamonds or subtle details.

The right combination is one that feels balanced when worn together.

What metal should I choose?

The choice of metal affects both the look and durability of your ring.

  • Yellow gold - warm and classic
  • White gold - sleek and modern
  • Rose gold - soft and romantic

You may also choose between:

  • 14K gold - more durable, ideal for daily wear
  • 18K gold - richer in color, with a more luxurious feel

For those looking for an alternative, platinum is also an option.

  • Platinum - naturally white, highly durable, and resistant to fading over time.

Each metal offers its own character - the right choice depends on your lifestyle, preference, and how you want your ring to age over time.

Practical Details

How do I get the Correct Ring Size?

If you're planning a surprise, sizing can feel uncertain.

You may borrow a ring she already wears or ask someone close to her. For a more accurate option, we can send a complimentary ring sizer so you can discreetly check. Our rings are typically quoted in sizes 5.5-6.5, with free resizing within this range. Sizes outside this may require a minimal fee.

If you'd like, we can arrange a ring sizer before confirming your order.

Can I engrave the ring?

Yes, engraving is available for both engagement and wedding rings.

A Ring becomes even more meaningful when it carries something only the two of you understand.

You may choose to add initials, a date, or a quiet phrase - something subtle, but deeply personal.

If you're unsure what to engrave, we're happy to guide you. You may message us on Instagram or Facebook for a consultation.

Care & Aftercare

How do I take care of my ring?

Your ring is crafted in fine gold and set with quality stones - made to last, but still delicate by nature.

We recommend:

  • Avoiding strenuous physical activities while wearing your ring
  • Removing it during household chores
  • Keeping it away from harsh chemicals

To clean:

Use mild soap, warm water, and a soft bristle brush. Gently scrub, rinse, and pat dry.

From time to time, we recommend having your ring checked in-store to ensure the setting remains secure.

When not in use, store your ring in a safe place where it won't be scratched.

There's no single way to choose a ring - only your way.

Whether you're certain or still deciding, we're here to guide you through it - thoughtfully, and at your own pace.
